King of Court: The Ultimate Guide to Padel's Most Exciting Format

The complete guide to King of Court — setup, rules, strategy, and why it's perfect for groups of 6-12 players.

King of Court (KOTH) is the most dynamic format in padel. There's zero downtime — when you're not playing, you're watching from courtside, analyzing your next opponents, and getting ready to step on.

How It Works

Two pairs start on court. They play a short game (first to 6-10 points). The winning pair stays on court as 'King.' The losing pair goes to the back of the queue. The next pair from the front of the queue challenges the King.

Best Setup

KOTH works best with 6-12 players on a single court. With fewer than 6, there's no queue. With more than 12, wait times get too long. The sweet spot is 8 players.

Strategy Tips

As King, play conservatively — just win. As challenger, come out aggressive. You have fresh legs and nothing to lose.
